12 killed, dozens injured in fire in Pakistan’s Balochistan

KARACHI: At least 12 people were killed and dozens injured in a massive fire that broke out when a gas cylinder exploded in Pakistanof the resistor Balochistan province, media reports said on Tuesday.
The Dawn newspaper reported that the fuel tank exploded while being filled with gasoline at a store in Lasbela district, southwestern province of the country on Monday.
The newspaper added that the fire engulfed other gas cylinders in the store and spread to other stores, burning at least four cylinders and about 20 motorbikes parked nearby.
Two people died on the spot while 10 others died of their injuries during treatment at the hospital, Geo News reported, citing police.
At least 25 people suffered severe burns in the fire. They were transferred to the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital of Karachi.
According to a doctor who treated them, the condition of some of the injured was critical, with burns ranging from 70 to 90%.
Police said the death toll is expected to rise.
Deputy Commissioner Lasbela Murad Kasi said that with the efforts of firefighters, the entire market was saved from the fire and an investigation has been started to determine responsibility for the incident.
