British actress Lynda Baron, who is known for her role on the British sitcom Open all hours, passed away. She is 82 years old.
Her agent of nearly 30 years and longtime friend Donna French announced the news in a statement obtained by multiple media outlets, saying, “We are deeply saddened to announce the passing. of our beloved client Lynda Baron. She’s a great actress and a good friend.”
“Her iconic Nurse Gladys roles in Open all hours and Aunt Mabel in Go out loved by all generations.
“Famous for our leading roles in West End musicals and dramatic productions, we’ve lost our world-leading light.
“Our deepest condolences go out to daughter Sarah, son Morgan and her entire family.”
Along with her work on Open all hoursshe also starred in the sitcom Oh no, it’s Selwyn Froggittand played Linda Clarke, Jane Beale’s mother on EastEnders.
As Violet Carson / Ena Sharples in The road to coronation streetshe was nominated for BAFTA.
Baron married John M Lee in 1996, and the couple has two children, Sarah and Morgan.
