For the first time I can remember, I really feel ahead of the curve with this year’s Christmas shopping. I still have a few people on my list – seems like every year, there are some of the hardest people to shop for haha. A lot of you have said that the hardest people to shop for are the parents/wife, so I wanted to round up a few of my favorite gift ideas for them. I feel like parents, they’ve often accumulated enough ‘baggage’ over the years that I focus less on the intangibles and more on the experiences or services that will help my life. Their lives just got a little easier. I feel like the excitement of experiences often beats the excitement of having something to open up, so I prefer the experience idea or service-focused giveaways, plus they often Create more unique gift ideas that you might have thought of before.
PEACE OF THE MIND WITH HOME SECURITY SYSTEM
SimpliSafe: My parents are building a house right down the street with us, so they’ll split their time between Montana and Utah. I want to buy them a security system for their new home so they can have peace of mind while away. After a bit of digging, I landed on SimpliSafe – it gets amazing reviews and has options to protect everything from theft to water damage, freezing, etc. Installation is a breeze easy (which is a must because the last thing I want to do is give my dad another job when he’s too busy). It’s also a super clean look so it blends in with the decor. Plus, it’s easy to use – you can control everything right from your phone. (While I was doing my research, the SimpliSafe reviews won me over and I actually got a system for me and Cody as well because I’ve been so annoyed with our current alarm system lately. 😂). They had a sale during the month of December – The Haven (pack I ordered) 40% off right now. (And never a contract! That’s awesome).
THE GIFT OF RELAXATION:
Take luxury to the next level and organize and give your parents a massage at home. There’s nothing more relaxing than rolling out of bed and into your own bed after a long day. Cody and I used Zeel advance – you can choose what type of massage, how much pressure, etc. to make sure you get the massage you love. One year I actually had Cody massage table Christmas a year so we can make our own massages at home so it can also be a nice gift idea for your S/O.
THE GIFT OF TIME
Walmart+/Grocery subscription: One of my most used services (I literally use it multiple times a week haha) is my grocery delivery subscription. I use Walmart+ and Target Same Day Delivery, and they’re probably the best investment I’ve made this year based on how often I use them. It saves a lot of time commuting from the store, especially when I realize I’ve forgotten an ingredient, and as a result commuting is more convenient than ever. Love this idea for parents – another thing you know will make their lives a little easier without ending up collecting dust on the shelves.
THE GIFT OF A CLEAN HOME
Nothing makes me feel more cramped than a messy house, so I always look forward to when we have someone to clean our house. I feel like whenever I try to do it myself, when I finish cleaning a room, the room ends up getting messy haha. Give your parents an extra special gift and purchase a cleaning service or gift card so they can schedule a clean up – maybe after your kids are at their home for the holidays, before they hold a get-together or just to catch up after a busy holiday season. If you don’t think a professional cleaning service is their cup of tea, this ultraviolet sterilization wand are a great way to give them that same clean feeling they can use for years to come.
NEW CELEBRATION GIFT
Vrbo Trip together: For many years, instead of tangible gifts, my parents took our whole family on a trip. It has always been one of my favorite gifts, so we ended up being the same for several years. Those trips are some of my favorite family memories together and it’s a gift you’ll remember for years to come. Nothing beats making new memories together ❤️. We love Vrbo for family trips, especially being able to have game nights or movie nights in the same space instead of splitting into individual hotel rooms. For things they can open, Vrbo gift cards are a great idea.
THE GIFT OF A PRE-PLANTED DAY NIGHT
Plan an epic date night for your parents that they will remember for years. It could be tickets to a cool event in their area, a gift card to a new restaurant they love, or you can hop on Tripadvisor for some ideas for creative activities in the area. your area. Cody and I love doing new things together but sometimes we all need a little push to really make it happen. For a date night that doesn’t require much planning, you can get a cute date night out of a box – something seasonal like this or mystery box in this cold case for crime podcast lovers.
