All IGN 10 in 2022
2022 has brought us a ton of extraordinary games, movies, TV shows and tech to enjoy. In fact, a lot of IGNs gave them a whopping 15 10/10 rating points. This is all we consider worthy of being called this year’s masterpiece.
Elen’s ring
FromSoftware has a long list of beloved action RPGs, but Elden Ring is the first IGN to give it a 10. It’s a challenging open world full of horror and fun and an evolution of what is. made titles like Dark Souls and Bloodborne- beloved on a large scale rarely seen before in a single game. It demands to be discovered endlessly as you hunt down its many secrets and the next expertly designed boss. Our review said it “could easily rank among the best open-world games we’ve ever played. Like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild before it, Elden Ring is a game we’ll look back on as the game that moved the genre forward.”
god of war Ragnarok
God of War Ragnarok is a worthy sequel to its 2018 predecessor, leading it to join an elite roster of franchises that includes GTA, Metal Gear Solid, and The Last of Us with its associated games. The sequel received IGN 10. An enthralling blend of action and adventure, it thrills with fierce battles and twisted story, building on what came before in larger ways and better and strengthen Kratos in the pantheon of great video game characters of all time. We praised the “perfect writing, perfect performance and knockout action”, calling it “a complete work of art from top to bottom”.
Dwarf Fortress
Dwarf Fortress is a masterpiece over 20 years in the making, a complex yet highly rewarding management game brought to life with welcoming glitz. The cult classic game – about maintaining a colony of dwarves and protecting them from gods, monsters and natural disasters – has never looked or played better. We’ve described it as “a genre-defining achievement” that “shows how great a video game can be when a developer has a precise goal in mind and bravely strives to achieve it.” , even if that effort takes decades.”
penitent
Pentiment is unlike anything Obsidian has created before and really, it’s unlike any other game in general. It’s a historical traveling detective role-playing game and its unique art style is sure to catch the eye as you travel through late medieval Bavaria questioning the townspeople about everything. concerning murder and theology. Our review called it “a gripping 15- to 20-hour adventure game” with “a clever detective story in which there are hardly any straightforward answers.” Pentiment is definitely an acquired taste, but well worth sampling.
Batman
Batman is a very different genre of detective story and is one of only two films to score 10/10 this year. Matt Reeves’ Rainy Gotham stars as Robert Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne host on the trail of a fantasy puzzle-loving serial killer in perhaps the darkest on-screen version of Batman we’ve seen. we used to see. It’s a great mash-up of neoclassical cinema and comic strips, while delivering a story that’s ingrained in the Dark Knight’s skin. We consider it a masterpiece, describing it as “a gripping, stunning, and at times truly terrifying psychological crime thriller that gives Bruce Wayne the grounded detective story he deserve it”.
Everything Anywhere All At Once
Our review called Everything Everywhere All at Once “a complex film that covers a wide variety of themes, but it does justice to each theme thanks to a carefully written script, superb performances. and just the right amount of weird humor to counter its bleak story.” Strange is definitely the tagline here as director duo Daniels takes us on a multiverse journey through all the weird and wonderful. What makes it so special is the way it manages to balance those oddities with a heartfelt story told through the eyes of Evelyn Yeoh in a show of force. It’s unlike anything else you’ll see this year and just as good as anything else.
Andor – Episode 6 “The Eye” & Episode 12 “Rix Road”
From the big screen to the small screen – not one but two episodes of the latest Star Wars series Andor earned a 10. The first is a thrilling heist showing off all the action. engaging and nuanced dialogue that the show embodies in its best moments; the latter is the season finale of Cassian Andor’s first steps towards becoming a revolutionary culminating in a combination of things that have made it such a great show up to that point. . Described respectively as “an action-packed spectacle that builds on the themes of previous episodes to devastating effect” and “a beautifully choreographed thriller that highlights the ugly side of both our world and Cassian’s”, they are two of the best episodes of television this year.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Part 1
From Star Wars to Star Trek, Strange New Worlds also breathes new life into a sci-fi series that threatens to go astray. Our review called it “the best single season of the Star Trek show since the legendary 1990s runs of The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine.” Capturing the old-school approach of indie, weekly stories rather than bothering with complicated arcs that span the seasons, this new Star Trek series deftly harks back to the olden days when it used to be. supreme domination. A great blend of adventure, humor and emotional action, it’s everything you could want from Star Trek.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power – Episode 6 “Udûn”
The Rings of Power scored well with its action-packed sixth episode, which we describe as “the best fantasy drama series.” Following on from the previous slower, explanation-focused episodes, the show bursts with a battle-focused chapter filled with blood, sweat, and tears. It sets key events in motion and delivers never-before-seen moments in Lord of the Rings history. Plus, the active effects are among the best seen on television, making it a truly must-see spectacle and by far the best episode of the first season of The Rings of Power. .
Better Call Saul – Final Episode “Saul Gone”
The final chapter of Better Call Saul is as great a finale as you’d expect it to be, concluding an intricately constructed TV series. and brings an end to its predecessor, Breaking Bad. Our review said it had “one of the most satisfying, emotional, and money-making endings to a TV show in years” and that it was “a Dickensian-style episode that harkens back to the past. , contextualize the present and look to the future with optimistic eyes.” Simply put, it’s another Vince Gilligan television master class.
This Is Us Part 6
The final season of This is Us earned a 10 for its elegant way of bringing so many of the series’ heavy and intertwined themes into a fitting ending. Our verdict said the installment had the “impossible mission of concluding some hugely emotional storylines, but it did so successfully and unusually. The Pearson family faces inevitable divorces and deaths, but the series’ final episodes offer the big picture of their lives in full, with some really long stories. meaningful.” A great ending to one of TV’s great melodramas.
Google Pixel 7 Pro
The Google Pixel 7 Pro is the only phone to score 10 in 2022. It’s a standout piece of technology, with our review saying it offers “even better value than the average person.” Predecessor. With a more refined look, brighter screen, 5x telephoto camera, and more impressive digital zoom, there’s hardly any reason to consider any other premium Android phone.”
SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless
The SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless headset is another 10 technology we scored, because it “raises this line of gaming headsets to the next level: spatial sound and superb sound quality, a battery that can last hot swappable for continuous use, and you can make your gaming audio experience even more nuanced thanks to very noticeable changes in the equalizer and Sonar settings.” Look no further if you value high-quality sound.
Undeterred: Stalingrad
If you just want to turn off all those electronics and enjoy the old-fashioned fun, then we’ve got you covered with the board game Undaunted: Stalingrad too. A remake of the 2019 original, we call it “a brand new game with a dedicated, novel campaign system”.
It’s every game, movie, TV show, and tech product we think deserves the title of masterpiece in 2022. What have you watched or played that you consider a 10 out of 10 this year? ? Let us know in the comments section.
