Amber Heard Says She Still Loves Johnny Depp Even After ‘Horrible’ Defamation Trial and Death Threats
Despite being accused of abusing Johnny Depp, Amber Heard insists she still loves her ex-husband.
The revelation comes from the second season of Heard’s in-depth interview with Savannah Guthrie on NBC’s Today recital. The first segment on Tuesday saw Aquaman the star describes seeing a crowd of people waving call for her death during testing. On Wednesday, she again stood by the violence allegations she testified at trial — but said she still has romantic feelings for Depp.
“I love him,” Heard said when asked about her feelings towards But the pirate of the Caribbean emerged after the lawsuit, which Heard described as the “horrible” experience of her life. “I love him with all my heart, and I tried as hard as I could to make the deeply broken relationship work, but I just couldn’t. I don’t have any bad feelings or malice towards him. I know that can be confusing or it can be very easy to understand. If you’ve ever loved someone, everything will be easy.”
Heard also used the high-profile interview to say that she still fears that Depp – with whom she shared a four-year relationship before breaking up in 2016 – might sue her again. “I fear that no matter what I do, no matter what I say or how I say it, every step I take creates another opportunity for this kind of silence, which is what I guess is a defamation lawsuit. . . It is meant to raise your voice. “
Guthrie asked Heard if she felt Depp’s sinister warning of a “global humiliation” has come true. “I’m not a good victim, I get it,” Heard said. “I’m not a lovable victim, I’m not a perfect victim.” Previous excerpts from the interview show Heard saying that she don’t blame the jury who sided with Depp at the trial.
Heard was ordered to pay Depp more than $10 million after she lost a public legal battle in a Virginia court on June 1. (Depp had lost a previous case in the UK after Sun The newspaper called him “the wife beater.”) The latest trial focuses on 2018 Washington Post op-ed, in which she describes herself as “a public figure representing domestic abuse,” although she does not name Depp in this section. “The article was not about my relationship with Johnny,” Heard told Guthrie when asked about her motivations for writing the defamatory article. Heard added, referring to the MeToo movement.
Guthrie also pressed the actor about his testimony at the trial from TMZ reporter that the store has been revealed about the place and time Heard will appear in public with bruises on his face. “They certainly weren’t fooled by me,” Heard said. The actress also addressed the issue of her promise to donate $7 million to charity since her divorce from Depp; At trial, it showed the donation had not been made even though Heard said it had. Heard said, stressing that she still plans to make that commitment over time.
When asked what she would do now, Heard said: “I’m going to be a mom like full-time, where I don’t have to schedule calls with lawyers.” Guthrie questioned whether she would one day explain what she went through to her 1-year-old daughter, Oonagh Paige Heard. “I think no matter what, it makes sense,” Heard replied. “I did the right thing. I did all I could to protect myself and the truth.”
Heard’s interview will be shown in full Friday night on Dateline (8 p.m. ET).
