She cited her experience with the US legal system as part of her decision to settle the case, noting that “extensive, direct evidence corroborates [her] testimonies were excluded” and that “popularity and power were more important than reason and due process”.
“I made this decision because I have lost faith in the American legal system, where my unprotected testimony is fed to entertainment and social media,” Heard said.

Depp accused Heard of defaming him in a 2018 editorial she wrote for the magazine Washington Post.
The jury awarded Depp US$10 million (US$15 million) in punitive damages and US$5 million (US$7 million) in punitive damages. A Virginia judge reduced the fine to $350,000 (US$520,000) for statutory limits, CNN previously reported.
