Heche, 53, suffered serious life-threatening injuries after driving his blue Mini Cooper into a home in Mar Vista, leading to a widespread fire. She later died of “severe hypoxic brain injury” that caused her brain to swell. She was declared legally dead on August 11 and removed from life support two days later.
Heche was trapped in the car for about 30 minutes before firefighters were able to pull her out of hell. The autopsy report, released on Tuesday, said Heche suffered first-degree burns on about 40% of his body.

Coroner officials wrote that there was no alcohol in Heche’s system at the time of the crash. However, the actor had small amounts of benzoylecgonine, the main metabolite in cocaine, detected in her blood.
This means that Heche had used cocaine in the past, but not at the time of the accident.
A toxicology report showed the presence of fentanyl in Heche’s system, but the substance “was obtained after she was treated in hospital and is therefore suitable for therapeutic use. “
Marijuana was also detected in a urine sample of Heche, but “was not detected in the blood on admission and consistent with prior use, but not at the time of injury,” the report said.

As soon as Heche was removed from the life support device, the coroner ruled her death an accident.
The woman who lived in the rental house in Mar Vista where Heche crashed her car sued the actor’s property for $2 million. The woman lost her home and most of her possessions due to the collision, although she and her pet were unharmed.
