Argentina team parades around Buenos Aires, President declares today a national holiday

Today is a day of celebration in Argentina, where thousands of people lined up for a few short hours to welcome the return of the winning national football team in the World Cup final. Their plane landed just outside Buenos Aires at around 3 a.m. local time and was led by captain Lionel Messi. The team has had a full red carpet. Today, there is a big celebration at the iconic Obelisk in the heart of the Argentine capital to celebrate the country’s first World Cup championship since 1986. President Alberto Fernández has declared today the day National holiday. FRANCE 24 correspondent in Buenos Aires, Declan McGarvey, tells us more.
