Auburn only lost to Oregon State 4-3 in the second game of the Corvallis Super Area Series.
The bats came to life in the fourth inning when the Beavers scored the first with both Jacob Melton and Travis Bazzana’s home runs, 2-0.
Auburn immediately responded with a Cole Foster double lead. A manager’s choice, followed by a wild throw would score Foster, 2-1. Brooks Carlson and Brody Moore’s double strike would provide another header to tie it, 2-2.
Oregon State took the lead again in the fifth inning when Matthew Gretler started the round with a single hit mid-right. Gretler advanced to second after a period of sacrifice and to third thanks to a single by Justin Boyd. A throw-in in the same game would score Gretler’s goal, 3-2.
The Beavers added to their lead in the sixth inning after Bazzana walked and then scored a single goal in the middle by Jake Dukart, 4-2.
The tigers refused to back down in the sixth round. Bobby Pierce moved up to number three after a single by Carlson. A wild throw would send Pierce home to close the gap, 4-3, before the Beavers finished the inning.
A one-turn lead was enough to send the Beavers to victory, forcing the third game of the series.
