MELBOURNE: Australia captain Pat Cummins opted out of the lucrative game Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2023, citing a tight international schedule.
The captain of the Test and ODI played the last three IPL tournaments with Knight Knights of Kolkata but cut his 2022 campaign short due to a hip injury.
“I have made the difficult decision to miss next year’s IPL,” he said on Twitter on Tuesday.
“The international schedule is packed with Tests and ODIs over the next 12 months, so take a break before the Ashes and World Cup series.”

Cummins had a disappointing campaign at the recent T20 World Cup at home, scoring just three goals in four games for an average of 44.00 as defending champions Australia were knocked out before the semi-finals. .
