MANILA, Philippines–Bay Area rebounded from a disappointing defeat on Christmas Day with a 99-82 win over Barangay Ginebra, a 1-1 PBA Commissioners Cup final on Wednesday in front of 16.044 fans at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Imports Andrew Nicholson and Zhu Songwei take the lead as the Dragons lean on strong first half before showing composure amid repeated Gin Kings bids back to bring the series into level terms as it steps in. on New Year’s Eve holiday.

It was a great recovery for the visitors from Hong Kong after Ginebra opened the series score in convincing fashion with the score 96-81 at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Nicholson, who in the days leading up to the win wrecked Ginebra’s Christian Standhardinger defensive strategies, dominated the paint scoring 30 points and 15 rebounds while Zhu recovered from a foul-prone Game 1 with 25 points, 5 bounces and 6 assists.

This time Hayden Blankley didn’t shoot the drums and scored 17 points on a 7/10 shot while Glen Yang’s ball play also played a part as the Dragons seemed more used to Finals basketball.

Match 3 of this series takes place on January 4 at the Mall of Asia Arena, with the two teams having a few days to prepare in addition to celebrating the dawn of the new year.

Justin Brownlee scored 32 points but Ginebra fell 52-35 after halftime and had to play catch up the whole time.

Ginebra reduced the lead to five at the start of the fourth inning of Japeth Aguilar’s three-pointer but the Bay Area scored 10 no-responses to restore full control of the game.

Justin Brownlee took home 32 points but it looks like the Best Imports leader carried the team while the rest of the Gin Kings weren’t as consistent as they were in Game 1.

Scottie Thompson and LA Tenorio failed to repeat their key performance from three nights ago while their defense was left unanswered in the face of Bay Area shooting and Nicholson’s dominance in the highlands.
