Police searching for the driver of a car bearing a British license plate in connection with the death of a cyclist in Ibiza have made an arrest.
It comes just hours after the black Jeep Wrangler that crashed into Bernat Ribas, 49, on Tuesday night was spotted by officers.
The abandoned vehicle, found about three miles from the scene, has been towed and will be analyzed by forensic experts.
It is believed the driver was involved in a head-on collision with Mr Ribas on a narrow road called the Camino de Benimussa.
The suspect is then said to have crashed into a rock while fleeing the scene in the city of Sant Josep.
The man arrested so far has only been identified locally by his initials – SD

Mr. Ribas is cycling with a friend when tragedy struck, who then had to recount the terrifying moment to the police.
The friend, along with another motorcyclist behind the couple, who were forced to brake, provided police with a description of the vehicle.
An urgent manhunt was launched for the motorcycle, before it was discovered near an ecological and educational center just a short drive away.
The Jeep, right-wheel drive, was then photographed in the back of a recovery vehicle as it was escorted for analysis.
Admiration has been paid to Mr. Ribas, a famous local sports enthusiast who has participated in many cycling competitions over the years.
His funeral will take place tomorrow.
Ibiza Town mayor Rafa Triguero shared his grief after the cyclist’s death, comparing it to a similar incident six years ago.
