CBI raids 56 locations across country in crackdown against child porn | India News

NEW DELHI: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday cracked down on the sale and distribution of child pornography, conducting raids in 56 different locations across 19 states and one Union Territory.
CBI searches are part of the ‘Operation’Megha Chakra‘, related to two cases of circulating Child Sexual Abuse Materials (CSAM) on the internet. Teams of more than 200 CBI officials were formed to crack down on the entire network.
The ongoing operation is a continuation of raids conducted in November 2021 that involved similar crimes. At the time, it was named ‘Carbon Activity‘.
Saturday’s raids around the country were also based on input from Singapore-based Interpol Crime against child unit against online CSAM peddlers using cloud storage.
The peddlers allegedly circulated audio-visuals of illegal sexual activities with minors via cloud storage mediums. This operation is targeted at these cloud facilities, taking the code ‘Megha Chakra’.
A CBI official told PTI that CBI, the first to set up a cybercrime unit, has attacked CSAM peddlers across India.
