China reports 598 new Covid cases on July 17 versus 691 a day earlier
SHANGHAI: China reported 598 new coronavirus cases on July 17, of which 167 were symptomatic and 431 were asymptomatic, National Health Commission said on Monday.
That compares with 691 new cases the day before – 154 symptomatic infections and 537 asymptomatic infections, which China counts separately.
There were no new deaths, keeping the national death toll at 5,226.
As of Sunday, mainland China had confirmed 2,27,593 symptomatic cases.
Capital of China Beijing Local authorities said there were no new symptomatic or asymptomatic cases locally, the same as the day before.
Shanghai reported three new local symptomatic cases, compared with two days earlier, and 14 locally asymptomatic cases compared with 24 the day before, with no cases found outside the region quarantine area, local government data shows.
