China slams US sanctions over alleged rights abuses in Tibet
BEIJING: US sanctions on two senior Chinese officials for alleged human rights abuses in China Tibet China’s Foreign Ministry said on Monday it is illegal and seriously harms Sino-US relations.

Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said the steps were gross interference in China’s internal affairs and violated basic norms of international relations.
“We call on the US side to immediately withdraw the so-called sanctions,” he said.
They have seriously damaged Sino-US relations, Wang said, adding that China will protect its legitimate rights and interests.
“The US does not have the right to impose sanctions on other countries all the time and is not qualified to play the role of the world’s police,” Wang added.
