When Teigen and her husband John Legend shared news of their loss in September 2020, they called it a miscarriage. Teigen, who is pregnant with the couple’s fourth child, explained during the summit that it took her a while to realize what had really happened.
“Two years ago, when I was pregnant with Jack, John and their third child, I had to make a lot of difficult and heartbreaking decisions. It became very clear around halfway that he wasn’t going to survive, nor was I going to have any medical intervention,” she said, via The Hollywood Reporter.
Teigen added that she didn’t consider it an abortion at first either, but now, “let’s call it what it is: It’s an abortion. Abortion to save my life for a baby had absolutely no chance. And honestly, I never, ever put that together until, really, a few months ago. “
Teigen realized while discussing the Roe v. Wade with Legend by the Supreme Court. Teigen said of that moment, “I was silent, feeling strange that I didn’t understand it that way.
