Climate activists decapitate prominent Berlin Christmas tree

BERLIN: Climate activists said Wednesday they have cut the end of the Christmas tree erected in front Berliniconic of Brandenburg Gate. The Last Generation group said two of its members used hydraulic lifts and hand saws to cut two meters (six feet) from the top of a 15-meter (50-foot) tree and hung a banner that read: “This is just is the top of the Christmas tree.”
German police confirmed the incident.
In a statement, the group said they wanted to emphasize that Germany So far we have only seen the “top” of the climate catastrophe unfolding around the world.
It calls on the government of the German chancellor Olaf Scholz to do more to tackle global warming.
The group has attracted attention and fury in recent months with direct actions, including blocking major roads and throwing food at famous paintings.
Criticizing such protests, Scholz urged activists to show “a little creativity” instead.
