Coach believes the best is yet to come for Michaelo Buddin ‘working hard’

MANILA, Philippines – National University coach Dante Alinsunurin knew Michaelo Buddin would shine brightly in his rookie year as the youngster outside helped the Bulldogs complete a perfect championship in the volleyball tournament. male UAAP Season 85.

The 21-year-old Nazareth graduate, who made waves when they won the Spikers’ Turf and V-League crowns last year, enjoyed a successful first season in college after completing Bulldogs’ historic ‘three peat’ and extended their winning streak to 34 games.

Alinsunurin is hardly surprised by Buddin’s outstanding form as he has witnessed the dedication and hard work of the 2nd Top Scorer of the tournament.

“He was a hard worker in our training session. Every time he needed improvement or was missing something, he immediately addressed it by asking us, coaches,” NU coach in Filipino after winning his fifth UAAP title.

Buddin, who averaged 23 points in the Finals, said he doesn’t want to waste the trust Alinsunurin has given him since pre-season.

“I am truly grateful for the trust of coach Dante since Spikers’ Turf until now. He guides me all the time and when I make a mistake, he and the sunbaes are always there to correct me.

The NU coach urged his youngster to continue listening to his coach and teammates, believing that the best is yet to come for Buddin.

“I always told him not to put achievements first. He spent a lot of years playing here in the UAAP. And his talent is not only here in the Philippines, he can go to many places, in international tournaments,” said Alinsunurin.

It took time for Buddin to make his team debut because the male players waited three years before returning to play. Despite their successful comeback, the rookie smasher is still hungry for more.

“I will continue to work hard and fight for my team, coach,” he said.
