RAIPUR: The Department of Enforcement (ED) on Friday arrested a Soumya Chourasiaa powerful deputy secretary in Chhattisgarh prime minister’s office (CMO), in connection with an alleged illegal coal scam that the central authority has been investigating for the past two and a half months.
A 2008 batch state administrative service officer, Soumya has been appointed deputy secretary at CMO since Conference government headed by the prime minister Bhupesh Baghel came to power in December 2008.
The ED arrested an IAS officer from the 2009 batch Sameer Vishnoithree entrepreneurs, including Suryakant Tiwari whom the ED has described as an alleged illegal coal scammer.
Since the ED raided several places including the offices and residences of three IAS officers, including an IAS couple and others in the second week of September, the central authority has questioned Soumya Chourasia several times in the past two months before arresting her. on Friday afternoon.
She was then taken for a medical examination before being brought before a special court judge (PMLA). Ajay Singh Rajput. Court proceedings are still ongoing.
