BEIJING: Countries are imposing or considering imposing restrictions on travelers from China amid the outbreak. Covid -19 rose there after the authorities relaxed the “Covid-free” rules.
They cited a lack of information from China about the variants and concerns about the wave of infections. China has dismissed criticism of its Covid data and said it expects future mutations to be more transmissible but less severe.
Here is a list of new regulations for travelers from China:
The United States will introduce mandatory Covid-19 testing for travelers arriving from China starting January 5. All airline passengers 2 years of age or older will have to have a negative test result. more than two days before departure from China, Hong Kong or Macau. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention also said Americans should also reconsider traveling to China, Hong Kong and Macau.

The health minister said the country has required Covid-19 negative test reports for travelers from China, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong and Thailand. Passengers from those countries will be quarantined if they show symptoms or test positive.
Japan will require a negative Covid-19 test on arrival for travelers from mainland China. Those who test positive will be required to isolate for seven days. New border measures against China will come into effect at midnight on December 30. The government will also limit requests from airlines to increase flights to China.
Italy has ordered Covid -19 antigen swabs and virus sequencing for all travelers from China. Milan’s main airport, Malpensa, has begun testing passengers arriving from Beijing and Shanghai. “This measure is necessary to ensure surveillance and detection of possible variants of the virus in order to protect the Italian people,” said Health Minister Orazio Schillaci.
Taiwan’s Central Epidemic Command Center said all passengers on direct flights from China, as well as sailing at the two offshore islands, will have to undergo PCR testing upon arrival, starting from January 1st.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said Australia was continuing to monitor the situation regarding China “as we continue to monitor the impact of Covid in Australia and around the world.”
