Cover Reveal – Bayonetta 3


Almost four years after it was revealed, Bayonetta 3 is finally on the horizon and the intrigue Game informantof this month. Platinum Games’ long-awaited trilogy falls short of the titles of its beloved predecessors. The game’s favorite witch features new tricks in the forms of Demon Masquerade and Demon Slave, allowing players to use their demon minions in combat in new, kaiju-sized ways. If a Bayonetta wasn’t enough, a multiverse storyline introduces several variations that carry their unique subtleties. At the heart of this crisis is newcomer Viola, the second playable character and Rookie Witch Umbra, who serves as the mysterious key to the game’s events.

We took a trip to Nintendo of America headquarters to play Bayonetta 3, perusing parts of opening hours as Bayonetta and Viola. In addition to sharing our first-hand impressions, I interviewed Platinum Games’ top figures via email, including game director Yusuke Miyata and supervisory director Hideki Kamiya, to gain insight into the process. Bayonetta 3’s long development process and answers to burning questions surrounding its gameplay and story. Our stunning cover art features Bayonetta flaunting her Demon Dressing abilities by channeling the power of Madama Butterfly, who appears on the back cover with her glorified, demonic appearance.

But that’s not all! Issue 351 also featured former Editor-in-Chief Andrew Reiner about the PlayStation VR2 crash. After attending the Tokyo Game Show, I wrote down my thoughts on the grand comeback of the convention. We interview Skydance New Media president Amy Hennig about the upcoming World War II Marvel game starring Captain America and Black Panther. Blake Hester spoke with Neon White creator Ben Esposito to explore the intricate work involved in designing the game’s high-speed levels. We also have in-depth previews of games like Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, an adaptation of Garbage Pail Kids, Forspoken, Dead Island 2, and more.
