Dakota Johnson does not want to be involved in the Johnny Depp-Amber Heard case
Dakota Johnson revealed she did not want to appear in the media storm surrounding the Johnny Depp-Amber Heard smear case.
During the trial, a 2015 clip of Johnson expressing concern about Depp’s bandaged finger during a press conference went viral. The video titled, “The EXACT Moment Dakota Johnson Knew Amber Heard VIOLENCE Against Johnny Depp” and it received over 4 million views.
“Why am I involved in this?” Johnson said in an interview with Vanity Fair. “I don’t remember that at all, but please, get me out of this. Don’t let this go any further.”

Johnson said she did not respect the way the trial was made. “I can’t believe people are watching [the trial] like a show. It was like a courtroom drama and my heart broke,” she said.
A defamation lawsuit was brought by Depp against Heard after she wrote an op-ed for Washington Post where she called herself a victim of domestic abuse without explicitly mentioning her ex-husband. Depp later won the case.
While the decision was welcomed by some parts of the Internet, there was also widespread displeasure over the coverage of the trial.
Journalists like Michael Hobbes have claimed that the media has put too much emphasis on “gotchas” and undone much of the work done by the #MeToo movement.
In a work titled ‘The bleak scene of the Amber Heard container‘, he wrote: “The surveillance lacks trust, the obsession with small differences, the confidence that vast conspiracies can be discovered on Google – immediately recognizable from the erroneously allowed internet bullying before.”

He explains how videos, like the one featuring Johnson, urge true crime enthusiasts to engage in sci-fi science like ‘body language tests’ and make them miss the big picture: history Depp’s abuse, both on set and in private situations.
In 2020, Depp lose libel lawsuit against British newspapers Sun after a judge declared the content of the article “totally true” and found that 12 of the 14 alleged domestic violence cases had occurred. The article in question calls Depp a ‘wife beater’ and claims he sexually assaulted Heard.
Depp is currently being sued by a crew member, who accused the actor of punching and hitting him on set.
