Danica McKellar defends Candace Cameron Bure’s ‘traditional marriage’ comments after co-star leaves GAF network
radioactive fallout from Candace Cameron Bure‘s comment is go home for christmas!
In case you somehow missed the argument, Happy home alum talked last month about leaving Imprints to become a star and “creative worker” at Great American family network. She dances around it but eventually gets her message. She will be happier at the GAF because unlike the recent Hallmark, it will “keep traditional marriage at its core”.
YES. We know what that means. There’s no such thing as LGBT-friendly. Because letting two guys fall in love in a cold little town setting isn’t “keeping God on Christmas,” as some say. blush.

Many people understand very well what Candace is trying to say. One of all Neal Bledsoe, a staple of the popular Christmas rom subgenre. After joining two movies like this this year, winter Palace and Christmas at Drive-InThe actor enthusiastically announced he’s leaving the network because of Cameron Bure’s comments, explaining in a lengthy statement last week why he’s not promoting his new movie with GAF:
“Recent remarks by management at Great American Family are hurtful, misguided, and reflect an ideology that prioritizes judgment over love. I grew up as a Christian and believe in the essential message of love and forgiveness. That said, I can never forgive myself for continuing my relationship with a network that actively chooses to exclude the LGBTQIA+ community.”
He added:
“The thought that my work could be used to deliberately discriminate against anyone makes me horrified and angry. I hope GAF changes, but until people can be represented in their films with pride, my choice is clear.”
That is a great statement. You can view the full text HERE.
A week later, and Danica McKellar are here to promote the latest movies alone. This marks the end of an on-screen relationship that spanned three Christmas lovelies – Bledsoe plays her love interest in winter Palace, Christmas at Drive-Inand 2017 Imprints movie Going home for Christmas. She said she also supports the LGBTQ community. She posted a few weeks ago that she was “a new Christian” but she still advocates for “all forms of healthy adult love”:
“The idea that Christianity would judge any form of love simply confused me. I am still new in my faith journey, but as far as I can tell, Jesus loves and includes all people. It is His job…
She also mentioned that she has a gay friend. So she talks. But unlike her movie beauty, she’s not ready to step out of the net and follow her principles.
While talking to Fox News Digital on Monday about her co-star not promoting with her because he severed his support for the Great American Family, she replied:
“Neal is a wonderful person. He’s a great actor and I enjoyed working with him. He and I certainly share our love and support for the LGBT community.”
But?
“I disagree with his interpretation of her comments. I just don’t see them the same way.”
Huh? Does she think he’s pulling the explanation out of her ass? That’s all of us?? The Magic year Alum explains:
“[Candace] started the sentence with ‘I think’, which is not definitive and she ended it with ‘core’, which is by no means exclusive. I don’t agree with his interpretation, but I love him dearly and I wish him all the best.”
Oh. She wishes you well? This is really a farewell!
Look, we know Danica is a smart woman. But all her math skills aren’t really serving her right now. Math is not gray, it has exact equations. And while TV DJs don’t Skill, clear says she doesn’t think her network should have gay content, she doesn’t have to. The public faces of hate always keep their righteous denial with politeness. They do not want look like they’re being hated. They talked about “God’s intention”, about “respecting tradition”, about “valuing the family unit”.
But at this point, the LGBTQ community is pretty good at reading subtexts and hearing dogs whistle. They have to – it’s a matter of self-preservation. Because those who talk about protecting the “traditional family” are in the same row as those who are burning down donut shops holding drag shows. People like Danica have the luxury of making a sensible distinction between expressions of hate. No one would attack her on the street for holding her husband’s hand.
Or maybe we were wrong. Maybe she’s just looking at the number of upcoming movies she can shoot with GAF and does another math.
Either way, we’re pretty disappointed in Danica here. Ironically, it’s clear that she doesn’t GAF as much as her co-stars. What do YOU think of her latest statement??
