DC’s FanDome event is a huge undertaking for the comics company, garnering tens of millions of views across 220 countries and in 12 languages. However, after just two years, Warner Bros. DC originally kicked off the event in 2020 as a way to connect with fans during the COVID-19 pandemic, offering an eight-hour live stream in the format of a virtual conference. The CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, David Zaslav has promised $3 billion in cost cuts across the company as part of a post-acquisition recovery effort, and it looks like FanDome could be one of them. Zaslav promised to “defend the DC brand” during a recent financial call, saying the company has a 10-year plan to focus on DC, “similar to the structure that Alan Horn and Bob Iger worked together so effectively. results with Kevin Feige and Disney..”
While Batgirl has been effectively canceled and buried, DC is still on the rise Black Adam, The Flashand delayed recently Shazam: Fury of the Gods and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Harley Quinn renewed for Season 4 and the live-action series Titan, People of Peace and Doom Patrol are currently being set up for Season 2 and Season 4 respectively – although with Batgirl’s cancellation we don’t consider those the same thing.
