Death Stranding 2 Announced – Game Informer
Death Stranding 2 – sequel to one of the best games of the previous console generation – was announced this evening during The Game Awards. As you might expect from director Hideo Kojima, that’s confusing.
The trailer begins with Fragile played by Lea Seydoux (There’s no time to die, Crime of the future), fleeing some sort of threat while carrying BB (a child in an artificial womb; that’s the whole thing) follows. After that, we’ll take a brief look at Sam Porter Bridges – the protagonist of the first game, played by Norman Reedus (Zombie) – to whom Fragile said: “It is time for you to hit the road and start a new journey”. After that, things really went off the rails.
Huge motor vehicles (not too different from the Metal Gears featured in Kojima’s previous Konami series, Metal Gear Solid). The main antagonist Higgs dresses up as President Amelie Strand and plays the electric guitar. A group of BBs full of tentacles. The unsettling question, “Should we connect,” casts doubt on the first game’s entire goal – connecting the United States – all quickly popping up on the screen. If it seems like a lot, it is. Check it out for yourself below:
We call it Death Stranding 2, but on the surface, the game is actually called DS2. Also, in addition to the previously mentioned movie stars, it also features Elle Fanning (Demon Neon) and Shioli Kutsuna (dead 2).
In a brief interview after the trailer, Kojima revealed that he and his company, Kojima Productions, are also working on another video game project and other “visual” works.
No actual release information has been given, although the game is once again published by Sony. The trailer also says the footage was shot on PS5. So it’s probably safe to assume that Death Stranding 2, like Death Stranding before it, will have some exclusive windows on the Sony platform. Guerilla Games will also act as a support studio and its proprietary engine, Decima, will again be used for the game.
