HOUSTON – For Devin and Jessica van der Hahn, Einstein and Kramer are their pride and joy.
“He’s a bit like a scared cat. If someone rang the doorbell, he would run upstairs and hide behind the bathtub,” van der Hahn said.
On May 25, 2022, the couple joined a pair training session at Underdog Training to help address Einstein’s social phobia and reinforce skills Kramer had previously learned.
“I actually did a background check on the principal, Sarah Reyes. We were looking for customer experience. She has a great Instagram. We were very careful because Einstein was very, very important to us,” van der Hahn said.
The couple’s beloved pets were supposed to stay for 10 days, but only one of them returned home.
Van der Hahn said: “Einstein died at the veterinary clinic.
According to court papers, Einstein collapsed and died of heatstroke while being cared for by Reyes. His body temperature is 110 degrees.

“What she told me over and over again was that this was a strange accident and it was a one-time thing,” van der Hahn said.
As for Kramer, he hasn’t been good.
“Kramer is sick. Kramer has gone home to Giardia,” said Jessica van der Hahn. Devin van der Hahn said: “I also bought Giardia.
When the couple wrote a review online, the flood unfolded.
According to court papers, other customers have come in to report death, illness and abuse.
“Our best data shows that four dogs died in Sarah’s care,” says Van der Hahn.
Court papers also said countless dogs were malnourished or sick returned to their families.
“Take turns tossing you one. Every day. Some reviews. Those are alarming reviews,” said Jessica van der Hahn.
Following the passing of their beloved Einstein, van der Hahns said they felt a moral responsibility to take legal action to relieve others of the insurmountable pain they endured.

Reyes, owner of Underdog Training, referred KPRC 2 to her attorney for comment. Attorneys declined our request for comment.
