Rogue Games and Game Grumps teamed up to create Dream Daddy: A Dad Dating Simulator back in 2017 – a game that seems shallow and silly at first, but proven to have amazing depth. Now the group is back with a very different looking next title called Homie. Homie is a psychological horror game inspired by the killer movies of the ’80s, but it also seems to be inspired by both classic survival horror titles and the newer wave of survival horror. games with light content, heavy on the story.
Players will take on the role of Emily, who is trapped in a house full of mysterious puzzles. However, things obviously get surreal pretty quickly. The mysteries seem to go beyond the confines of the house and enter Emily’s memories and thoughts. According to the game’s synopsis, the player is tasked with “avoiding killers, solving puzzles, and making dialogue decisions”. Both player dialogue options and enemy AI are designed to create a unique experience across multiple levels.
Homebody is “coming soon” on the Epic Games Store, Steam, and consoles. Not a lot of specifics were available in the initial announcement, but that makes sense as it seems like the story on the subject is being deliberately obscured and twisted. The game is a big 180 degree turn from Dream Daddybut it will be interesting to see how the team’s experience with the dating sim transforms into an entirely different genre.
