Everyone is hot as hell in Hades II, as they should be
The Game awards happened yesterday But we’re not here to talk about that. What we are here to discuss, true believers, is that Supergiant Games surprised everyone by breaking with the tradition of “no sequel” in the series. notification Hades II and quickly stepped on the collective neck of the game world with how compelling its characters were, once again. And they are not only fascinating but also have some interesting historical lore behind them.
While the 2020 roguelike action Hell saw Zagreus fights his way up from Hades (where) to meet his estranged biological mother, Persephone, Hades II saw Zag’s older sister, Melionë, descend into the underworld to defeat their dear old grandfather, Chronos, the Time Titan. Somewhere along the way, she will likely be accused of freeing Hades (the guy) from bondage.
“Like her brother Zagreus in the original game, Melinoë is not a character we invented ourselves but is based on an ancient Hell god believed to be related to Hades,” Supergiant Games write on Hades II‘s FAQ page. “The little ancient myths that exist about her are more than enough to make us want to explore her story and connection to her family, and in doing so, broaden our horizons. ours about Hell.”

As Supergiant Games mentioned in its FAQ, not much is written about Melinoë in Greek Mythology. However, what is written about her birth probably won’t surprise you if you have any fleeting knowledge of Zeus and his fiery sex scenes. Similar to Zagreus in Greek mythology, Melinoë’s mother was Persephone, the goddess of spring and spring. However, her father is not Hades but Zeus (who happens to be the real father of Zagreus in the old legend). After taking the form of his brother, Zeus went to bed with Persephone and now we have Melinoë. Why she is known as the bringer of nightmares and madness is anyone’s guess. Excuse me while I cough violently towards the sky.
The mountain of a woman called Nemesis, as one might surmise from her name, was the Greek goddess of vengeance. The origin of Nemesis is not an agreed upon thing in Greek Mythology. Follow Latin author, Gaius Julius HyginusNemesis is the daughter of the goth goddess of darkness, nyx. Alternative literature says that she another daughter of Zeus. PS, don’t look up Helen of Troy’s origins if you don’t want the headaches associated with Zeus. Similar to Hades’ domineering Megaera, Nemesis wields whips and swords in battle.
Moros, brother of Thanatos, is the Greek god Doom. Coming out of the trailer, Moros can also play a similar role to Thanatos in the story: one of the guys Melinoë encounters whenever you encounter your untimely death. If Supergiant Games feels particularly ambitious in its game design, then Moros could also give you some foresight as to what will happen in future stages, based on his history. reserves the right to allow people to preview their deaths.
