Four people named in the all-American general men’s team academically

Four SEC student-athletes highlight the 2022 Academic All-America® major men’s teams as selected by the United States Director of College Athletic Information (CoSIDA). The Academic All-America team recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom. The major men’s team includes fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, handball, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis, water polo, volleyball, and wrestling. . Each school is also limited to only four nominees.
Mississippi golfer Ford Clegg, Alabama swimmers Derek Maas and Nicholas Perera all have 4-GPA and are repeat members of the first-class Academic All-American team. They were joined by South Carolina tennis player Daniel Rodrigues on the second team.
Clegg graduated in May with a finance degree, earning a cumulative 4.0 GPA and being named a Presidential Scholar each semester of her college career. He’s started in every league this season and has shot equal or better in 14 rounds.
Maas, the All-American and SEC Champion, graduated with a 4.0 GPA in biology on a set track in May. Maas was part of the UA 200-average relay team that finished in second place. year at the NCAA Championships.
Perera achieved a 4.0 GPA in undergraduate mechanical engineering. In 202, he won the All-American title in the individual 400.
Rodrigues completed a psychology degree this spring and graduated with the highest GPA on the men’s tennis team. He finished the season as an ITA All-American in both the singles and doubles events after he competed in the NCAA Tournament.
