Government approves 20 technical textile R&D projects worth Rs 61.09 cr, ET Retail
New Delhi: Government approved 20 R&D project worth Rs 61.09 crore on Geotech, ProtechIndutech, Sustainable Textiles, sportBuildtech segment and special yarn (carbon fiber and Ultra High Molecular Weight Poly Ethylene), the textile ministry said on Thursday.
The projects were approved at the 6th meeting of the Mission Steering Group (MSG) of the National Committee. Technical textiles Delegation chaired by the Minister of Textiles Piyush Goyal.
Of these 20 R&D projects, three are from Geotech, six from Protech, each from Indutech, Sportech and ultra-high molecular weight Poly Ethylene. Two projects of Sustainable Textiles, Buildtech, carbon fiberand Special/Functional Yarn has also been approved.
“While speaking at the meeting, Goyal said that it is necessary to identify areas where High Strength Lightweight Technical Textiles can be used as an alternative material in the automotive, aviation, infrastructure and medical industries. to improve efficiency, progress and sustainability,” the ministry said citing Goyal.
Goyal emphasizes broad outreach to attract more R&D proposals in mission priority areas, and reputable private technical colleges should be encouraged to partner with Textile Research Association or reputable government institutes to promote research and innovation.
