Grammy Award Nominations 2023: See the list of musical nominees – Country

Some of the music industry’s biggest names are among the nominees for the 2023 Grammy Awards. From Beyoncé to Harry Styles, some of the world’s most beloved musicians were recognized in nominations on Thursday. Three.

Beyoncé leads the charts this year, earning 9 nominations, 8 of which are for her album Renaissance. With these nominations, Beyoncé currently joins her husband Jay-Z in the most nominations any artist has received.

Kendrick Lamar followed closely behind and received eight nominations.

British singer Adele was also honored with seven nominations. The upcoming Grammy Awards ceremony will be reminiscent of the 2017 awards ceremony, when Adele 25 beat Beyoncé Lemonade for album of the year.

This year, the Grammy Awards introduced five new categories, including musician of the year and a special award for best song for social change.

The non-classical musician category will recognize an individual as the “most prolific” non-performer and non-producer for a new set of works. It will take a different approach to song of the year, the award given to songwriters who have written the lyrics or melody for a song.

The award for best song for social change will recognize music whose lyrics address a timely social problem or vulnerable community, while promoting awareness, raising awareness, and building empathy.

Despite the Grammys’ attempts to appear more relevant to the times, some rap and R&B artists refuse to review their albums. Canadian musicians Drake and The Weeknd both turned down their solo projects – Drake’s Honestly, it’s nothing and The Weeknd Dawn FM — from the nomination ballot. (Drake, however, received three nominations for his performances in different songs.)

In 2020, The Weeknd angrily criticized the Grammys, calling them “spoofs” after he received no nominations despite having the most successful single of 2020, glare. That same year, Drake claimed the “disconnection” between the Grammy Awards and popular music had rendered the award insignificant.

“I think we should stop letting ourselves be shocked every year by the disconnect between influential music and these accolades and just accept that what used to be the highest form of recognition may no longer exist. important to current and future artists. ” he say.
