Halo Infinite Campaign Co-Op, Forge Beta, and more coming in November
Halo Infinite’s long-awaited co-op campaign is finally arriving on November 8 as part of the game’s major Winter Update. Today, 343 Industries released a video of what it calls its biggest content update yet, breaking the Forge Beta, new multiplayer maps and more.
Online Campaign Collaboration
The biggest addition in the update has finally arrived after a beta in July. The co-op campaign, which supports up to four players, features cross-platform support, shared progress, mission replays, and a host of new achievements.
However, the co-op campaign will be online only. 343 announced that it has chosen to discontinue development on local split-screen co-op to reallocate those resources towards rapidly rolling out updates and improvements online based on player feedback.
Forge Beta
Despite launching in beta, 343 says Forge will be a fully featured generator. In fact, two new multiplayer maps in the Winter Update were created entirely in Forge: Argyle and Detachment. 343 won’t share much more, but promises to discuss Forge in more detail via community updates in September and October.
Multiplayer
As for the multiplayer, the Winter Update introduces a free 30-story battle pass along with a new Match XP trial. Match XP will be the primary method of progressing through battle, rewarding players for simply playing, regardless of the mode, and taking into account your wins and performance. Since it’s in beta, 343 will adjust Match XP matching based on player feedback.
Additionally, a ring-based mode called Covert One Flag will be introduced. It pits two teams against each other: the offensive team’s payload includes camo, sidekicks and unlimited active carbines. Defenders have unlimited threat sensors, energy swords, and commando rifles. 343 said the mode was inspired by “spies vs spears”, as attackers work to infiltrate defenders’ territory.

Season 3
343 also teased season 3, titled Echoes Within. It will premiere on March 7 and will mark the start of a more predictable schedule with more seasons, and therefore more content, coming each year. Echoes Within will add the following:
- New armor core
- Custom game browser to search playlists or Create creations
- Two new maps, one for Arena, one for BTB
- New VIP and Escalation mode
- New Robbery Rifle
- New Screen Cover ability, a smokescreen that obscures the player from radar (at the cost of obscuring the user’s view)
