Harvey Weinstein found guilty by Los Angeles jury of rape, sexual assault – National
Harvey Weinstein was found guilty of rape by a Los Angeles jury on Monday, marking the second conviction in multiple states for the disgraced Hollywood mogul.
Weinstein was also found guilty of two other sexual assault charges involving one of the four women whose allegations made up the case for prosecutors. The jury was unable to reach a unanimous verdict on the other charges.
The jury reached its verdict Monday afternoon after nine days of deliberations spanning more than two weeks. The trial itself lasted more than four weeks and heard from dozens of witnesses, including four women who accused the former film producer of sexually assaulting them.
Weinstein, 70, still has about 21 years left on his sentence in New York after being convicted of rape and sexual assault there is being appealed.

A jury in Los Angeles found Weinstein guilty of rape, forced oral intercourse and another count of sexual misconduct involving a woman named Jane Doe 1. The jury could not decided on a number of charges, notably those involving Jennifer Siebel Newsom, wife of California Governor Gavin Newsom.
The jury reported that they were unable to reach a verdict on her charges and those of another woman. A mistake was declared on those charges.
He was also acquitted of sexual assault charges committed by another woman.
He faces up to 24 years in prison when convicted. Prosecutors and defense attorneys were not immediately available for comment on the verdict.
“It is time for the defendant’s reign of terror to end,” Deputy District Attorney Marlene Martinez said in the prosecutor’s final argument. “Time to bring the king to justice.”
Weinstein pleaded not guilty to all charges against him and continued to maintain any sexual activity he engaged in as consensual.
