Hong Kong victim slams ‘barbaric’ attack at Chinese consulate in UK
LONDON A Hong Konger Wednesday decry his “barbaric” treatment at the hands of Chinese diplomats in Britain, who dragged him inside their compound to assault him after an anti-Beijing protest.

In a letter to Greater Manchester Police, Consul General Zheng Xiyuan complained that police did not intervene in time after protesters “broke in” the mission on Sunday.
While stressing that China “respects the right to protest,” consular staff are required “to resist unauthorized entry and subsequent attacks,” he said.
But Zheng himself has been named on social media and in the British parliament for attacking Chan, along with three other consular diplomats.
Iain Duncan Smith, a Conservative MP and toxic criticized the Chinese communist authorities, saying diplomats should be expelled and criticized the “totally inadequate” response from his government.
“Anyone involved in those scenes is not welcome here,” the former Tory party leader, one of several British MPs sanctioned by Beijing, told a news conference. “They have to go.”
Greater Manchester Police contradicted the Chinese account, after video of the incident showed consular staff driving Chan inside the gates of the Manchester complex.
Chan was among the protesters who hung banners mocking the Chinese Communist Party and President Xi Jinping.
Chan said he was pulled by his hair and attacked by masked men from behind, but could not say “100 percent” that Zheng attacked him.
“It’s barbaric. I’m very worried for my safety and I have nightmares about how my loved ones might be treated,” said Hongkonger, who has lived in the UK since March. said last year.
