Hot air brings Spain its 1st withering heat wave of year

MADRID: Spain’s weather agency said a hot air mass from North Africa brought on the country’s first major heatwave of the year on Sunday, with temperatures expected to reach 43 degrees Celsius (109.4 degrees Fahrenheit) in some places.
The Aemet . weather agency said the hottest areas will be in central and southwestern Spain. The heat wave is expected to last through at least Wednesday, the agency said.
43 degree (109.4 degree) weather forecast for cities south of Seville, Cordoba and Badajoz.
Meteorologists say temperatures in Madrid could reach 38 degrees Celsius (100.4 F), well above average in early June. The forecast high for coastal Barcelona is 32 degrees Celsius (89.6 F).
