I Tried the Wrinklit LED Mask—Here’s the full review
It’s not hard to convince me of a new skin care device. Professional level treatments are notoriously expensive and can amount to my rent if done on a semi-consistent basis. So anything that promises results in the home office, at a fraction of the cost, is obvious. The point is it’s always been consistent—just ask the gua sha, the microcurrent device, and the dust-collecting wand in my bathroom drawer.
This makes the Skin Gym Wrinklit LED Mask ($69) all the more appealing. A cordless, shield-type mask that offers red, blue, and yellow LED light therapies to address a variety of skin problems—from redness and wrinkles to acne and dull skin conditions. general—all you need to do is wear it for 15 minutes a day, three times a week. I’ve tried red light therapy in the past during facials and was immediately ready to try the Wrinklit LED Mask.
But first: What is LED light therapy?
LED stands for “light emitting diode” and it has been used in spas and dermatology clinics for many years as a means to rejuvenate the skin. “LED light therapy is a non-invasive treatment that involves the use of specific wavelengths of non-thermal light to penetrate the skin at various depths to promote skin healing and helps cells and tissues grow,” explains licensed esthetician Shani Hillian.
“Blue light affects the top layer of your skin while yellow light penetrates deeper and red light goes deepest into your skin.” Red light is a way to boost collagen and reduce inflammation. Loretta Ciraldo MD FAAD, board-certified dermatologist with over 40 years of experience and founder of Dr. Loretta Skincare explains: “We use it to firm the skin and reduce the appearance of wrinkles. “Blue light destroys cells. We use it to kill the bacteria that cause acne.” While the yellow light helps support collagen production and provides “wound healing” benefits.
Setup and ffirst impressions
As soon as I received it, I plugged my Wrinklit Mask in to charge—it uses a micro-USB cable (supplied, BTW) that makes it easy to charge from your laptop or anywhere with a USB drive. USB plug. After about 2-3 hours, it is ready to work. I apply it before bed, after completing my nightly skincare routine. And without straps, straps, or ties, the mask couldn’t be easier to put on. It even has a thoughtful foot and nose bridge to hold in place for a comfortable fit. With the large opening around the eyes, you also don’t need to sit still during the treatment, which is a huge plus.
Read, watch your favorite show, or send that last email—no matter what you’re doing, Wrinklit’s simple design makes it a dream come true for multitaskers. A single press of the power button turns the mask on and off, and lets you cycle through red, blue, and yellow lights. Once turned on, the mask will automatically turn off after the specified 15 minutes. So you get all the benefits of LED light therapy without really having to think about it.
1 day
As a frame of reference, I have combination skin and some fine lines are developing around my forehead with more pronounced “eleven” lines between my eyebrows. Due to the chaotic sleep schedule at the beginning of the month, my skin looked pretty pale and dull, and I even had to treat a few stress-induced bruises. I decided that the red light mode would be the go-to for my skin problems and was excited to see what the Wrinklit Mask would do.
On the first night, I put on a mask and lay in bed with my eyes closed for 15 minutes while listening to the podcast. I didn’t expect any immediate results after the first treatment, but I ran to the mirror anyway to check on my skin. After seeing no discernible difference, I went to bed. Following Skin Gym’s instructions, I will continue to apply the Wrinklit Mask 3 times a week for 15 minutes each time for the rest of the month.
Day 14
After two weeks, I feel like a champion for consistently using the Wrinklit Mask. I left it on my nightstand and its super functional design makes it a simple addition to my nightly routine so far. Admittedly, though, it was hard to pinpoint any noticeable changes in my skin. My stress breakouts started to scab over, which was a win, but that’s it. However, the Wrinklit LED masking ritual three nights a week in itself felt like a treat. And while I was excited about multitasking with it at first, after the first week, I was perfectly ready to spend 15 minutes “relaxing” in bed with a podcast or audiobook.

After using the Wrinklit LED Mask for almost 4 weeks, I started noticing some changes. For starters, those annoying stress breakouts have completely healed and gone — and while I usually expect a pimple to heal completely within a month, they don’t leave any marks behind. any scars, which I totally attribute to the healing properties of LEDs. Even more encouraging, the little wrinkles on my forehead are not like as clear as they were (for me) before the treatment. Overall, I feel like my skin looks smoother and less irritated overall (a testament to the collagen-boosting and anti-inflammatory benefits of LED masks).
Shoppers at Skin Gym also report similar results. “I love this mask! Noticing a difference after about 3 weeks, the lines around my eyes are definitely softer,” one Skin Gym shopper wrote in a 5-star review. Other customers claim that the Wrinklit LED Mask helps even out their skin tone, fight acne, and leave skin looking smoother, younger-looking. And while I can’t say my results were as dramatic as I expected, the small improvements in my skin’s texture and tone were well worth it.

While I was excited to see the results I was getting, dermatologists note that the effects are limited compared to professional treatments, are more effective, and are best used as a treatment. means of maintaining results in the clinic. “They are a good adjunct to clinic LEDs and other anti-aging treatments,” explains dermatologist Aanand Geria, MD.
However, if professional LED treatments aren’t on the cards (these usually cost $$$$), the convenience and affordability of the Wrinklit LED Mask is the next best thing. follow. The results may not be life-changing, but they are maybe if you’re consistent — and Skin Gym’s masks make that easy.
