I was Christian B’s pal – I warned Met cops in 2009 that he knew about Madeleine McCann… they did nothing for 9 years

A SAME friend of prime suspect Madeleine McCann Christian B claims he warned Scotland Yard of the enemy in 2009 – but was not contacted for 9 years.

Helge B also revealed in an interview how he discovered his twisted side for the first time German best friend in the mess sexual abuse videos.

Later, the petty criminal who claimed Christian B appeared to confess to snatching the British, told him at a carnival after a few glasses of wine: “She wasn’t screaming.”

Helge B, 48 years old, revealed to British authorities investigating the disappearance of Madeleine from her vacation apartment IN Portugalbut said: “I was never called back.”

He told how he thought Christian at first. B is “a nice guy” when he first met him around the time Missing three year old boy from Praia da Luz in 2007.

“It was in the parking lot in front of a pub in Portugal,” he recalls.

“My friends Micha and Manni introduced me to Christian.

“He helped them through the crash – I think that’s a good thing.

“The first impression is that he is a good guy – personable, sociable.”

The pair discussed their criminal activities, in which Christian B bragged about his climbing skills that enabled him to get into his hotel room via the balcony.

But Helge B fatefully decided to search Christian B’s Algarve home page Later know that he was in prison — and make a gruesome discovery that later opens Madeleine’s case.

Helge B said he and Manfred Seyferth were looking for diesel fuel that they knew Christian B kept.

But they also found a gun and a video camera exposing the sexual misconduct of their “nice guy”.

Helge B said: “I have heard that Micha and Christian is in prison.

“There was news in the newspaper, ‘Two Germans arrested’.

“Manni said, ‘I know where Christian B lives – he still has 1,000 liters of diesel there’. We went there and tapped a few boxes.

“The front door was open, so we just walked in.

“We ransacked the apartment, took a camera, a bunch of film and a gun.”

Finally, upon seeing the footage, he initially thought it was a movie, but then gradually he realized that Christian B was torturing and raping a pensioner.

He said a teenager was subjected to a similar terrible ordeal.

Helge B told German newspaper Bild: “We went to my house, where I had a big TV, where I watched the first videos. ‘Tourist’, I thought – until I saw a video of an older woman. At first I thought, ‘This is a feature film’.

“It shows someone hitting the woman.

“She was tied up, lying on a bed and was probably 70, 80 years old.

“She was wearing painted diving goggles and couldn’t see.

“She spoke English and shouted, ‘You f*ing b*d’. At the end of the video, he sat down on the bed and pulled down the mask.

“Then I saw it was Christian B.

“I can not believe it.

“I said to Manni, ‘Come here and see what’s happening.

“He watched for two minutes and said, ‘I don’t want to know anything about that.

“I said, ‘Manni, that’s Christian B.

“I saw it, he took off his mask.”

“On another tape is a video with an old woman in a different position, and another with a younger girl, 13, 14 years old.

“She was tied naked to a beam.

Christian B is currently serving a seven years in prison for rape thanks to the accidental discovery of Helge B.

But he claims that police initially told him to keep quiet.

He said: “I spoke to a police officer I know in Germany.

“He said, ‘Helge, don’t touch it.

“A lawyer told me the same thing.

“I’m not sure what can happen to me — I’ll blame myself.”

He said Manni threw the gun into a reservoir, although sources say it was not the gun searched by police recently near Silves.

Helge B continued: “I sold the camera.

“When I left Portugal afterwards, I left behind the videos in my caravan.

“It’s not clear where they ended up.”

Helge B then had a “difficult” encounter with the released Christian B at a kite festival in New York. SpainSpain, 2008.

He said they discussed Madeleine’s disappearance from the previous year.

Helge B recalls: “I sat in Mercedessee him in the rearview mirror.

“He joined us and we talked.

“That was difficult for me.

“He asked me, ‘You don’t go to Portugal anymore and do business there?’

“I said, ‘No – since the girl disappeared there, there have been too many police checks on me and I don’t need that’.

“We came up with Maddie and I said, ‘Anyway, I don’t understand how the baby could have disappeared without a trace.’

Christian had two or three beers and then said, ‘She didn’t scream’.

“I immediately checked what he said.

“I thought, ‘He knows that. He has something to do with it’.

“I know his background from the videos. . . I was really sick.

“But he also checked to see if I understood that and left the same night.

“At three or four in the morning, he leaves a crowded carnival with his mobile home.

“I looked for him the next morning. His neighbors said, ‘He’s gone’.”

Helge B has stated in his interview that he subsequently debunked the Met.

He said: “I called Scotland The pitch returned in 2008.

“I said I knew someone who might be involved in the incident and gave them their name.

“They took my personal information, my phone number.

“But nothing happened there. Nothing!

“I was never called back.

He said: “In 2017, I just served a prison sentence in Greek.

“When I heard about the 10th anniversary of the disappearance, I just remembered and contacted Scotland Yard again.

“Then they listened to me.

“The first meeting took place with two officials in a hotel in Athens.

“Then I flew to London and put my testimony there for the record.”

The German federal police used evidence gathered from watching Helge B’s video to help convict Christian B of raping a pensioner.

Old friends meet again at the 2019 rape trial.

Helge B said: “This whole situation has affected me.

“When I saw it, I thought, ‘It’s a pig.

“He’s not sitting here for no reason.”

German prosecutor Hans Christian Wolters named Christian B as Madeleine’s prime suspect in June 2020 — and said he wasproof she was murdered.

Helge B believes that Christian B only intends to steal Kate and Gerry McCannresort’s apartment.

He said: “It crashed and he found the kids. And then he took Maddie with him. It probably wasn’t planned at all.”

But he continued: “I definitely believe he is capable of something like that. I think he kidnapped her.

“I don’t know if he ended up killing her.

“I wish there would be peace in the end.

“It is clear to me that Maddie is no longer alive.

“Sadly, it would be better if her body was found.”

When asked if he had a message for Christian B, who has denied any involvement in Madeleine’s disappearance, he said: “Christian, I hope you don’t ignore this story.”

He also claimed discovering the video “was the biggest mistake of my life”.

“I would rather know nothing about it,” he said.

“Nor do I boast that I started this investigation.

“I didn’t do well.

“I gain weight, there are periods when I go crazy, I don’t Sleep At night.

“It ruined my life.”
