Is Marvel Snap: Spider-Man 2099 worth 3000 Collector’s Tokens?

The last newly released card of the Marvel Snap Spider-Versus season is none other than Spider-Man 2099. Future Spider-Man brings some serious firepower to the Move prototype, but is it enough to justify the expense. 3000 Collector’s Tokens fee? To find out, we will analyze the function of the 2099 Spider-Man card, discover what strategies work best for this card and which decks can be used.

Like last week’s Spider-Ham card (which we highly recommend), Spider-Man 2099 will start in Series 4 instead of Series 5 and will cost 3000 Tokens. This is part of Marvel Snap’s effort to make new cards more accessible to players upon release.

Miguel O’Hara became a very different kind of Spider-Man after his botched Alchemax science experiment miraculously granted him a set of normal spider powers but also a pair of ghost-like fangs. Vampire allows him to bite and paralyze enemies with spider venom. As a more aggressive form of Spider-Man (as we saw in the recent movie, Spider-Man: Crossing the Spider-Man Universe), it is fitting that he has a very aggressive and very destructive effect.

What does 2099 Spider-Man do in Marvel Snap?

The 2099 Spider-Man card costs four Energy, has six Strength, and has the ability, “The first time this card moves to a location, destroy an enemy card there.” Destroying your opponent’s cards can be a serious ability, if put into the right situation. For example, if he moves to a location where your opponent only has a single strong card like Devil Dinosaur or Evolution Hulk, he can win that location alone. Then again, since the card he destroys in his new location is randomly chosen, he is much less effective in locations with lots of units. If your luck is not good, then he will only eliminate a small unit, like Spider-Ham or Korg.

The ability to destroy an opponent’s card regardless of its cost and power is pretty rare in Marvel Snap, and when we see it, it’s always offset by specific conditions that make it hard to use. Spider-Man 2099 is no different. While his card isn’t the easiest to use as it requires a motion booster, it is at least more accurate than Gambit and less gambling than the Negasonic Teenage Warhead.

There are a variety of Move cards that can activate Spider-Man 2099’s abilities, including Iron Fist, Ghost-Spider, Cloak, and Heimdall, but being a Move card means his powers will always be limited. by the inherent weaknesses of the moving archetype. . Cards need to be drawn and played in a specific order, your entire strategy can be nullified by Random Positions and opposing card effects that shut off lanes or clogs blocks the board and makes moving cards difficult and the deck tends to be easy to predict because most of the Move cards go to the left, most notably the big finisher Heimdall . New Spider-Versus Season Pass Ghost-Spider that helps on that second point as she can drag left, right or center, allowing you to play Spider-Man 2099 in one lane and let your opponent guess which of the two lanes he will move to again. It’s worth noting that Spider-Man 2099 offers six powers for four, which is a solid stat line that makes him a respectable card even if you don’t activate this ability.

Spider-Man 2099 can find a home in decks other than a pure Move deck. Maybe he can thrive in a deck with a small move pack. The Good Stat Prototype could be a good home for him, as Zabu will reduce his four mana cost down to three.

Note that the wording on Spider-Man 2099 can be read in two ways – it seems like he only activates on the first move, or he activates every time he moves to a new location. The developers have made it clear that he only activates once, even if you hit him back and play him again.

Should you spend 3000 Collector’s Tokens on Spider-Man 2099?

After playing several games with each of these lists, the short answer is no, Spider-Man 2099 is not worth buying.

Although Spider-Man 2099 has a very strong killing effect, many factors have prevented him from working stably. Normally, we couldn’t activate his kill effect and even when we did, his random targeting caused him to play low value cards instead of low value cards. big post. There are some instances where he works exactly as intended, and those moments are wonderful and rewarding, but they’re far from each other and very few. The meta is currently dominated by decks like Bounce and Sera that play with lots of small units, so it’s very rare to get a big card with Spider-Man 2099. The popular Highly Evolved archetype likes to end the game. fighting Hulk Evolution solo in a lane so you would think Spider-Man 2099 would be able to take advantage of that, but since you usually take him down on turn 4 or 5 your opponent will have a chance to play around it.

That’s why we think 2099 Spider-Man isn’t worth the 3000 Tokens, especially if your collection is still lacking in much better Series 4 cards like Zabu, Darkhawk or Spider-Ham. It’s hard to imagine Spider-Man 2099 becoming a popular meta tag seen in the game’s most competitive levels, so you won’t miss out if you let him slip through. If you are a Move enthusiast and just want to play cards for fun, then you will definitely get your money’s worth in that respect as he is a great card with a sweet animation that can bring some seriously satisfying wins (just not often enough).
