Jackson State superspeed landing Georgia WR Robert Lockhart three stars

The good times along the recruiting path for Jackson State continue with another big win that lands the Georgia receiver 2023 Robert Lockhart on Sunday. The addition of three-star talent Langston Hughes adds another speed demon to the Tigers roster that’s more out of reach than any team.

Towards the 2023 season with the former five stars Travis Hunter carry the passes along with the former four-star star Kevin Coleman and now it’s Lockhart… who will you protect?

The Georgia high school season is far from complete, but Lockhart has personal bests of 10.75 in 100 and 21.5 in 200 to go with 4.45 in his 40-yard dash. In offense by offensive coordinator Brett Bartolone, the Tigers will light up the scoreboard prolific.

Lockhart spoke with Rivals about his recruiting process and how the Jackson State recruited him.

“Coach (Michael) Pollock (TE) hired me,” said Lockhart. “He put me in a room with my coaches and told me that coach Deion (Sanders) wants you. They were the plus one on my board. He still keeps in touch with me every day, treating me like a person instead of a player; played an important role in my decision. Their new offensive coordinator from Nevada, he showed me the stats and told me what he could make. ”

Lockhart said of his relationship with coach Pollock, “He was a great man. We had a lot of great conversations. ”

A plan is in place to take advantage of Lockhart’s great speed.

“They’re saying they’re going to use me in the position, and that I’m going to get a lot of the relationship,” says Lockhart. “I can also work outside; they don’t know it yet. He wants to get the ball for me in the slot, from there I handle the job.”

In a strange way, the Auburn Tigers helped Jackson State land Lockhart.

“The bottom line was when I visited Auburn,” says Lockhart. “That broke the ice to where I wanted to go. I experienced the culture at Auburn. The fans are amazing, I had a great time, but I don’t feel like that’s the position for me. I know the HBCU route is where I am. “

Shortly after Lockhart returned to Fairburn from The Plains, he made the decision to commit to Jackson State.

“The day after I got back from Auburn was when I committed,” says Lockhart. “Coach Pollock is very excited. He said, “I want you to commit on April 24 (at the spring game). We won’t let an elite player like you sit on the bench, you will play slots and become a pro again.” The two quickly returned, which was really uninteresting for them. ”

Jackson State isn’t the only one excited that this part of the hiring process is over.

“I have no stress, no worries, and a clear and clear head,” says Lockhart. “I can focus on what I want to focus on now.”
