Jimmy Kimmel Accuses Trump of Throwing Ivanka Under the Bus Over Jan. 6 Testimony

On Friday night, Jimmy Kimmel made the most of it NBA Finals Game 4 TV showaired a truncated primetime version of his show before the game — featuring skits featuring several NBA stars and Captain America himself, Chris Evans — and a longer skit after.

And, in his late-night monologue, the comic takes aim at Trump for his “euphoric” response to a congressional hearing on January 6, which an estimated 20 million people watched, and Fox News’ deeply unethical efforts to distract their viewers at home from watching.

“We know that Trump did not called on the National Guard to stop the attack — he brought it up when he said it,” explained Kimmel. “We also learned that when his supporters broke windows, chanting, ‘Mike Pence Cave!,’ Trump was watching on TV and he said, ‘Maybe they have the right opinion. Yes. Maybe Mike Pence deserves it.’ This is his own vice president.”

The comedian then turned his attention towards Fox News.

“Fox News intends to bury their viewers heads in the sand [that] Not only did they not show last night’s hearing, Kimmel said, they also streamed it commercially for free for two and a half hours so viewers don’t switch channels to see what’s going on. “They were trying to make it seem like what happened was just a rowdy bunch of people sneaking around watching a movie or something.”

He then cuts scenes from Fox News hosts Laura Ingraham and Tucker Carlson spreading lies about the January 6 riots, with Carlson asserting, “It wasn’t an uprising. It doesn’t even near the to an uprising. “

After playing clips showing the brutal reality of the riots, Kimmel countered, “Looks like a coup”, before adding, “Five people were killed that day by people who that crazy silly demonstration.”

He continued, “And the worst part is, you know Trump is at home so excited to be back at prime time he can’t stop pulling on his nipples. He’s crazy. He loves it.”

Kimmel also addressed testimony from Trump’s daughter Ivanka that she believed Trump’s Attorney General Bill Barr when he claimed that the 2020 presidential election was not rigged. Trump responded on his social media platform by saying that Ivanka had “paid” at the time.

“I like his argument that Ivanka, his senior White House adviser, checked,” Kimmel said. “In the Trump family, that’s called being thrown under Access Hollywood bus.”
