JIT probing assassination attempt on Imran Khan stops working after suspension of its head
LAHORE: The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) investigating the November 3 gun attack on former Pakistani prime minister Imran Khan has ceased operations following the suspension of its leader, a police officer. senior said on Saturday.

“JIT’s assassination investigation into the life of former prime minister Imran Khan is no longer active after the Court of Federal Service upheld the federal government’s decision to suspend police chief Lahore Ghulam Mahmood Dogar, who was its head (JIT),” a senior Punjab police officer told PTI on Saturday.

He said that the JIT also questioned arrested suspect Muhammad Naveed, who asserted that he acted alone.
Khan underwent surgery for a gunshot wound at the Shaukat Khanum Hospital in Lahore owned by his charity and moved into Lahore’s Zaman Park residence.
Punjab police registered the FIR in connection with Khan’s assassination but made no mention of ‘high-level suspects, including the head of the ISI for whom Khan was responsible for the attack.
Khan dismissed the FIR, saying that without nominating Prime Minister Sharif, Interior Minister Sanaullah and the head of the ISI Counter Intelligence Wing, Maj-Gen Faisal in the FIR, it was just a “piece of trash”.
Punjab police said they arrested Naveed from the crime scene and he confessed to his crimes. Naveed in his confession said that he wanted to kill Khan when music was played in Azan’s time during his long march.
