MANILA, Philippines – Justine Baltazar prepares to return to his homeland with the Pampanga Giant Lanterns team in the Pilipinas Super League a week after he was announced by the Japanese B.League.
PSL on Tuesday announced that the former La Salle star will play for his home province in the Second Conference of the Pro Division Dumper Cup
“He is here. Proud son of Pampanga Justine Baltazar is ready to launch G Lanterns on Wednesday,” the federation posted. “And Balti can’t wait to see you all at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center.”
Baltazar could debut when the Giant Lantern battle the San Pedro Laguna-ARS Warriors on Wednesday in San Fernando.
Pampanga will play head-to-head matches against Quezon City Beacons on Thursday.
Baltazar and dragonflies in Hiroshima broke up last week.
Striker Gilas Pilipinas played little with a total of 13:36 minutes in eight games, where he scored just two points, one rebound, one assist and one steal.
A few days before the 2022 PBA Rookie Draft, Baltazar withdrew to play in the B.League.
The last time Baltazar played in the country was during UAAP Season 84, when La Salle lost to eventual champions the University of the Philippines in the Mortal Finals last May.
He also led Pampanga Delta in running the National Basketball League-Pilipinas, where he was named MVP of the final last June.
