Khloe Kardashian shares a melanoma update after deadly tumour was removed from her cheek: ‘I know this looks crazy’

Khloe Kardashian has updated her millions of Instagram followers on her health journey after a melanoma was found on her cheek.

The 39-year-old, who said she initially believed the potentially deadly spot was actually a pimple, revealed the melanoma removal had left an indent in her cheek.

“For those of you who do not know, I had a skin cancer scare on my face,” Kardashian wrote on her Instagram story.

The mother-of-two said she recently had facial surgery to “remove the tumour” but has been left with a long-lasting scar.

“Not only did he remove the tumour and made sure that I am completely cancer free but he did such a f—ing stellar job on making my scar as small as possible,” she continued.

“Thank you so much, Garth. You know I adore you.”

Kardashian went on to share a series of photos of the progression of her melanoma and post-surgery selfies.

“I know this looks crazy and pretty massive, which it was, but all for good reason,” she continued.

“@garthmd made sure everything was as flat as possible so there was no stretching of the scar incision area and we tried to avoid keloiding as much as possible. He’s just the best.”

The former reality star revealed the resulting indentation in her face, which she described as “huge”.

“I am definitely not complaining because I would rather have an indentation than melanoma any day,” Kardashian added.

“I am so incredibly grateful to all the doctors who helped and continue to help me on my skin cancer journey.”

Kardashian said she had since filled the indentation in her cheek “with the ok from Dr. Fischer”. She showed a before-and-after shot of her face following the filler injections.

She finished her lengthy posts with a warning to other people to get your skin checked.

“Be consistent with your skin cancer checks!” she advised. “No one is exempt.”

Kardashian added: “One check could save your life. Even if you think it’s nothing. It never hurts to get it looked at.”

Kardashian spoke about her brush with skin cancer during an episode of The Kardashians in season three.

“Melanoma is deadly,” Kardashian said in a confessional interview. “This is way more serious than I anticipated it to be.”

Kardashian first shared the diagnosis to her Instagram Story in October last year.

“After noticing a small bump on my face and assuming it was something as minor as a zit, I decided to get it biopsied seven months after realising it was not budging,” she wrote.

She added that she underwent two biopsies from two separate doctors who both thought the situation was “incredibly rare” for someone of her age.

Kardashian also shared that this was not the first time she has had a melanoma tumour, saying that she had one removed from her back at age 19.
