Lady Tams pocket crown PFF


Far Eastern University (FEU) won the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) Women’s Cup after beating the University of the Philippines (UP) 2-0 on Saturday at the National Training Center. family in Carmona, Cavite.

Lylhanie Cayabyab scored the opener in the 17th minute before Lyka Cuenco scored a crucial second goal late in the game to secure the title for Lady Tamaraws in her first domestic women’s tournament since the pandemic.

FEU coach Let Dimzon said: “We were prepared for the direction of this team before the tournament started. “I’ve seen the potential of the team in this tournament, their hard work, their dedication to the game where they give 100 per cent every time they step on the pitch.”

The FEU dominated the month-long tournament that started by placing third in the knockouts.

Lady Tamaraws knocked out second seed Tuloy FC in the semi-finals to create an all-UAAP match against the unlikely Lady Maroons of the final.

UP reached the final with a shock defeat to Kaya-Iloilo on penalties in the remaining semi-final.

Dionesa Tolentin, FEU’s top goalscorer was named Best Player.

Kaya redeemed for losing to UP in the semi-finals with a 1-0 victory over Tuloy to finish third. request
