Letitia Wright recalls heartbreaking moment she found out about Chadwick Boseman: ‘I lost it’

Letitia Wright is finally ready to open up about one of the most difficult moments of her life – when she first learned about Chadwick Bosemanis death.

The 29-year-old revealed in a question and answer after a Screen Actors Guild Award screening Black Panther: Wakanda forever:

“I went into my email and someone said, ‘My condolences,’ and I was like ‘Give my condolences? For what? I was just talking to you last night about a script, why are you emailing me that?’ and exited my email to meet my team, my reps at the time said, ‘Would you like to write something about Chad?’ and I removed that email.

We can’t even imagine the shock she must have felt. Chadwick kept his battle with cancer a secret, his passing was a surprise to all of us. After all, he seems like one of the fittest, most energetic men on the planet, a real-life superhero, Then he just… disappeared.

And Letitia’s sudden loss of her on-screen brother… She continued:

“I opened my phone and saw all these calls, and I thought to myself, ‘I’m going to make it all go away — here’s how I’m going to make it go away: I’m going to call Chad, and he will answer the phone. So I kept calling.”

Did you try calling him? OMG, it’s heartbreaking… That’s another story Black Panther co-star who finally brought her face to face with reality…

“Then I saw Daniel Kaluuya, and Daniel Kaluuya didn’t call anyone, he was busy — I was like ‘Why is this guy calling me?’ And I called him and I said, ‘Yeah, so you’ve got five seconds to tell me this isn’t real,’ and he was super quiet, and I said, ‘You… play it.’ And he made me fumble for my other phone. He hears this call, this phone rings, he says ‘What are you doing?’ I said, ‘I’m calling Chad.’ And he said, ‘Tish, family…’ And that’s when I lost it.”

It is a tragic situation. See her full recollection (below):

Letitia also talked to Tonight’s reception Friday, where she explains her motivation to continue the Black Panther legacy through her grief:

“If it were up to me, I would run away and roll onto a rock and grieve there. But it has to go somewhere. You need to put it somewhere. And I think the script and Ryan and the reason – going back to why, like what’s going to pull you out of this place of having to deal with this on your own, and apply it to this project and to honor Your brother. And that is exactly what it is.”

She added:

“I promised myself that I would honor God and I would honor Chad because I have a talent and I have to use it. This character is a blessing. The reason I got the role of Shuri is because of Chad. He said, ‘Yo, this is my sister, stop auditioning.’”

Wakanda forever It’s showing in theaters everywhere right now, but we probably don’t need to tell you — the movie had the biggest November opening of ALL TIME with $180 million.
