LGBTQ community can visit Qatar, but don’t try to change us: Energy minister

Qatar’s relationship with Germany has recently become strained.
German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser wore the “OneLove” captain’s armband during the national team’s match against Japan last week and has criticized Qatar’s human rights, but this week Germany signed an agreement to import natural gas liquefied petroleum gas (LNG) from Qatar.
“If they want to visit Qatar, we have no problem with that,” Energy Minister Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi said of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community, telling Bild in comments posted Wednesday.
But he said the West wanted to “order what it wants” over Qatar, where homosexuality is illegal.
“If you want to change me let me say that I believe in LGBTQ, that my family should be LGBTQ, that I accept LGBTQ in my country, that I change my laws and Islamic laws to please Western hearts – this is unacceptable,” he added.
