My estate agent told me I had FAILED my house inspection for the pettiest reason – I was outraged

One MUM was furious after being told she hadn’t been given a home inspection for the slightest reason.

Mother Samantha Smith was informed by a real estate agent that she had failed to check the rent on her house in Newcastle, Australia.

The mother posted a video on TikTok explaining the reason she was given – with the main reason being that she needed to clean up her child’s toys.

“I failed because I needed to clean up, I needed to pack up my toys,” she said as she pointed the camera at a shelf full of toys.

“Sorry, I need to pack up my toys? I have a one-year-old. Are they allowed to say that?”

“I just packed them up but I have a one-year-old and he’s already taken out his little (toy) vacuum cleaner.”

The mother said the agent also told her that the mattress in the living room made it difficult for her to access other areas of the house.

Then she walked around the mattress to another room to show that it wasn’t the problem.

Samantha explains: “My partner sleeps there because you know, I have a one-year-old and he gets up at 4:30 (am) and I don’t want him to wake us up.”

The mother added that a cleaner comes in every week to clean the whole house.

She continued by saying that the agent told her to clean the linen closet and clean the ceiling fan.

“This is the only cupboard where I can put our laundry and food because we don’t have any other cabinets,” she said.

“Is that a joke? Like how what’s in my closet is her business?”

But what angered Samantha was that she was asked to “wash” the outside of the house.

“It’s mold, man, it’s black mold, I don’t wash that, like it’s none of my business.

“What annoys me is that she’s also here to see what needs to be fixed and there’s so much here that needs to be fixed.”

She then walks around the property and points out the damage including a damaged roof, unstable deck wood floors, damaged railings, and broken gates.

Samantha said her family has lived on the property for seven years and pays nearly £300 a week in rent.

She also said she was paying £81 weekly for a storage unit because under their contract they were not allowed to store anything in the garage.

She said: “I’m pretty frustrated, like the fact that, you know, there are serious things that need to be fixed, such as we could fall over the deck, the corner could fall off and come apart. Our heads open.

“On the other hand, our blinds are yellow so they’re all brittle, she wanted me to fix them. Like I didn’t damage but the sun.”
