Naughty Dog said that the release Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection on PC is a “turning point” for the studio, indicating a greater focus on the platform going forward.
Say in a blog postNaughty Dog VP Christian Gyrling said that while the PlayStation 5 remains the developer’s primary platform, bringing the game to PC allows it to reach a whole new audience.
Naughty Dog used its partnership with Iron Galaxy (who ported the Uncharted collection to PC) to learn about PC development, Gyrling said, and “we can look to the future of the game.” Play Naughty Dog on PC with more excitement than ever. “
He continued: “We’re excited to offer The Last of Us Part 1 on PC in the future, and know that, moving forward, adding PC development to the way we develop games, that’s what This does not diminish the importance of PlayStation 5 as our primary platform, which will continue to benefit our team in the long run.
“Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection’s release on PC is a turning point for Naughty Dog. Not only did we get another opportunity to celebrate our favorite series, but also introduce it to so many new players.
“In doing so, we set the stage for Naughty Dog to deliver high-quality games on PlayStation 5, with the option to release on PC, with an understanding of how to meet the different needs of the PlayStation 5. both current and future audiences.”
While this doesn’t guarantee that every new Naughty Dog game will eventually be released on PC in the future, it does seem more likely. Sony itself is also doubling down on its expansion to the platform by set up a new PlayStation PC label and buy expert porting PC Nixxes.
The company also recently said that, besides investing in first-party software, its other main strategy for growing the business is releasing its software on multiple platforms – and it is expected to make $300 million from PC games this financial year alone.
The appearance of Uncharted on PC is definitely important because it’s arguably PlayStation’s biggest franchiseebut other major first-party games include God of War and Spider-Man has also achieved great success. Spider-Man: Miles Morales spinoff title will also be available on PC this Novemberwith the foregoing Last of Us Part 1 is also expected to arrive on PC in the near future.
