NBA: Donovan Mitchell, Cavaliers hold Bucks

A 15-0 first-half score gave hosts the Cleveland Cavaliers the lead, who never surrendered on their way to a 114-106 defeat to the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday.
Four different Cavaliers scored at the start of their crucial game, with the final points coming from Jarrett Allen.
Donovan Mitchell started Wednesday’s contest sluggishly on fouls, scoring four points in the first quarter and finishing seventh in the first half before the 3-pointer beat his buzzer to take Cleveland. into the pause position with an 18-point lead.
The 3-pointer sealed 26 points in the second half for Mitchell, who finished with a team-high 36. He reached the free-throw line in 16 attempts, making 15.
Mitchell also had six of the team’s highest assists.

Behind Giannis Antetokounmpo’s season-high 45 points, Milwaukee took the lead in the second half. Bucks recovered from 24 points down to pull within 5 points when Pat Connaughton connected on pointer 3 with 2:21 left in regulation.
But Darius Garland, who scored 23 points, responded with a jump and free throw to take the lead to eight points and keep Milwaukee at bay.
Allen added 19 points and won 8 rebounds for the Cavaliers, while Kevin Love scored 9 points with the highest 9 rebounds of his teammate.

The win marks Cleveland’s fifth straight game and fourth against the Cavaliers’ six-game home run. Milwaukee has lost 1-1 in the current five-game run.
Antetokounmpo racked up a game-high 14 rebounds and made 4 assists in the loss, and Jrue Holiday flirted with a triple-double with 9 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists.
Brook Lopez and MarJon Beauchamp were the only Bucks to score twice as many points alongside Antetokounmpo, finishing with 14 and 11 points, respectively. Milwaukee shot 39 of 83 from the floor in the game, including 13 of 30 from 3-point range, but a 15 of 38 shooting performance in the first half sent the Bucks into a hole too deep to regroup.
