NBA: Nikola Jokic’s triple-double helps Nuggets beat Grizzlies

Aaron Gordon scored 24 points, Nikola Jokic had 13 points, 13 rebounds and 13 assists, hosts Denver Nuggets beat the Memphis Grizzlies 105-91 on Tuesday night.

Bruce Brown scored 16 points, Christian Braun had 13 and Bones Hyland and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope each added 12 points for Denver, who won for the fifth time in six games.

The Nuggets competed without the protection of Jamal Murray, who was facing pain in his left knee that was surgically repaired. Murray shot 2-11 in Sunday’s win over the Charlotte Hornets while undergoing treatment for a knee condition.

Ja Morant has a game-high 35 points with 10 assists, Dillon Brooks has 11, Brandon Clarke has 10 and Steven Adams has 10 rebounds for Memphis, who have lost two games in a row since a seven-game winning streak. .

Denver took a 17-4 lead in the first 5:33 of the game and made it 23-8 thanks to Gordon’s free throw. The score was 28-14 before Hyland made a hit and three-pointers and Zeke Nnaji made two free throws to put the Nuggets ahead 35-14 after the first half.

Jeff Green opened the second half with a pitcher that gave Denver a 23-point lead and prompted Memphis coach Taylor Jenkins to call a 22-second timeout into the inning.

The Grizzlies hit back and were twice 14 points apart, but Denver made it 18 before Morant hit a 3-pointer with 32 seconds left to make it 55-40 after halftime.

Morant went strong in the third round, scoring six points and another shot assist to knock Memphis down in the 62-53 round. Jokic hit a 3-pointer and gave Braun a pitch before Caldwell-Pope made a save to make it 69-53.

Vlatko Cancar and Braun hit 3 points to take a 20 lead with 3:34 left in the third inning. The Grizzlies went on to run 12-2 to climb in the 10th round, and they led 84-71 in the fourth inning.

Memphis scored within 10 minutes of the fourth half and then made it 92-84 with the remaining score at 6:22. Gordon responded with a pitch and a 3-pointer to put the Nuggets ahead 13.
